Public safety software
Ether identified and developed an add-on acquisition that broadened a public safety software platform’s customer base, geographic reach, and industry capabilities—strengthening its position across mission-critical markets.
The mandate
One of the most respected and longstanding middle-market private equity firms in the United States retained Ether to develop and execute an add-on search strategy for its portfolio holding, a leading provider of public safety, incident, and security management software. The investment thesis was to build a more robust platform by expanding the client base, entering new industry verticals, and integrating complementary technology and service offerings.
How Ether found the strategic fit
Ether researched, identified, and screened more than 125 potential targets across North America, including a broad set of industry-focused public safety software providers.
Ether uncovered a company with a specialized public safety offering for the casino and gaming industry, supported by a meaningful presence across the United States, Canada, and Asian gaming markets.
Although the target was in discussions with other potential acquirers, Ether helped develop the relationship between management and the client, supporting the path to a signed letter of intent and completed transaction.
A stronger platform with broader market reach
The acquisition added meaningful revenue, EBITDA, and geographic presence to the portfolio company while bringing hundreds of new customers onto the combined platform. It also positioned the company as a dominant player across several areas of public safety software. The business continues to deliver solid growth and performance, supporting the client’s path toward a strong exit.
